Law
  • R v Hoey (Crown Court, Northern Ireland, 20/12/07) Criminal, DNA. Food for thought for all criminal lawyers and DNA experts. Mr Justice Weir's scathing attack on forensic techniques is included in the judgment.
  • R v Alan Ingleton (Court of Appeal) Criminal, Police Officers on jury. Seems to be a hot topic right now. The Court of Appeal doesn't seem keen, despite Parliament's approval. Perhaps the adage that 'justice must be seen to be done' applies.
  • MM and Local Authority X (High Court, Family Division) Family, Claimant's lack of capacity, Article 8. By way of Coda to an earlier judgment, the court re-emphasised the Local Authority's need for caution in ensuring that the Claimant's Article 8 rights were protected.
