Expertise and Experience:
I have been a Consultant Psychiatrist since January 1985, my specialty being General Adult Psychiatry with a Special Interest in Forensic Psychiatry. I am on the General Medical Council\'s Specialist Register and Approved by the Secretary of State under the provisions of s.12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 as having special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders and thus Duly Approved under Section 1(1) of the Criminal Procedure (Insanity and Unfitness to Plead) Act 1991. I am a Member of the British Medical Association, the Medical Protection Society and the Academy of Experts and a London Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. My specialist areas are: criminal matters, civil matters, Mental Health Review Tribunal matters, family, housing, Children Act, \'Best Interests\' matters, personal injury (psychological injury), clinical negligence, transcultural psychiatry and occupational stress. I have considerable experience of giving oral evidence to the Tribunals and Courts. |

Career:
I qualified Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Nigeria School of Medicine in 1976 and came to the UK in 1979 for specialist training. I became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists by examination in 1983 and had my first Consultant Psychiatrist post in 1985. My last NHS post, 1996 to 2004, was as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Lecturer at South London & Maudsley NHS Trust, the Guy\'s, King\'s College and St. Thomas\'s Hospitals Medical and Dental Schools of the University of London and the Research Unit of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. I have been in independent medical practice since April 2004 with my practice base at 10 Harley Street, London, W1G 9PF. |
