I was educated and trained in the UK and was awarded the following titles: Doctor of Clinical Psychology, University of Manchester (ClinPsyD, 1996), Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology, Keele University (PhD, 1993), Master of Arts in Community Care, Keele University (MA, 1990), Bachelor of Science in Psychology, University College London (BSc Hons, 1989), Chartered Clinical Psychologist by the British Psychological Society (CPsychol, 1997), Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS, 1997), Chartered Scientist by the Science Council (CSci, 2007), Accredited Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP, 1999), and Registered Psychotherapist by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP, 1999).
OCCUPATIONAL HISTORY:
After my academic and professional clinical training, I started practicing as a Clinical Psychologist at the North Manchester General Hospital (1996-1997). I was than then worked as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist with the Thameside Eating Disorder Service at Basildon Hospital, whilst holding an Honorary Lectureship at University College London (1997-1998). I was then a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leicester, whilst practicing as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in Psychological Trauma and Physical Health at the Leicester General Hospital (1998-2001). I then took a Consultant Clinical Psychologist post and worked at Kidderminster Hospital in primary and secondary care mental health services where I was also Head of the Wyre Forest Primary Care Counselling Service and an Honorary Member of Staff at the University of Birmingham (2001-2005). Having worked privately since 1996 on a part-time basis, in 2005 I established Expert Psychologists Ltd, a private clinical psychology practice in London and the Midlands, where I am the Director and full-time Consultant Clinical Psychologist in active clinical practice.
EXPERT WITNESS EXPERIENCE:
I have been providing independent reports since 1996 for over 100 solicitors? firms and agencies. In the past three years, I provided around 150 reports, for defendants, claimants and also joint instructions. I feature in the expert witness directories of the following bodies: The Academy of Expert Witnesses, the Law Society, the British Psychological Society, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers', and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. I have assessed and successfully treated hundreds of patients with trauma.
CLINICAL EXPERTISE
I have assessed and treated hundreds of patients with clinical problems. I have extensive experience in clinical interviewing and psychometric testing. I have taught on various professional and postgraduate university courses. I have supervised and trained various mental health professionals.
